Review: Samurai, the Game

We got a new game for Christmas. It is a strategy game of acquisition by surrounding, built on a map of Japan.

We are enjoying this game a great deal. It is simple to learn, but the strategy is complex, making us fairly evenly matched as we all are learning it together.

One thing I like as much as the rules, is the quality of the game pieces. I feel a little superficial, but they are well designed. They are heavy, and stay upright, which is a good thing in a game you have to reach across repeatedly.

This game also has a great “reveal” at the end, since the calculation of who has won is based upon hidden pieces. Somehow, this makes it all the better. I can highly recommend this, especially if you are a fan of Catan but want something to play that goes a bit faster. (11/362)
